Description: 1:100,000-scale quadrangle names and boundaries in
   and surrounding Oklahoma.

 Abstract:

This data set contains all the U.S. Geological Survey
1:100,000-scale topographic quadrangle names and boundaries for
   quadrangles in and surrounding Oklahoma.

 Introduction:

This data set contains all the U.S. Geological Survey
1:100,000-scale topographic quadrangle names and boundaries for
quadrangles in and surrounding Oklahoma. The quadrangle names came
from the National Digital Cartographic Data Base (NDCDB) (U.S.
Geological Survey, 1991). This data set was created from a data set
containing all the 1:100,000-scale topographic quadrangles in the
conterminous United States (Rea and Cederstrand, 1994).

 Purpose:

This data set can be used as an index for U.S. Geological Survey
1:100,000-scale topographic quadrangles. This data set also can be
used to register 1:100,000-scale quadrangles for digitizing.

 Supplemental_Information:

Procedures_Used: This data set was created from a data set
containing the 1:100,000-scale topographic quadrangles in the
conterminous United States (Rea and Cederstrand, 1994).
Quadrangles, except for those in Oklahoma and immediately
surrounding the state, were deleted. The major and minor pairs were
added and the documentation was modified.

 Revisions:

Revision 1.0-GCIP, 10/94, Joel Cederstrand. Original processor.

Revision 1.1, 12/27/96, C.J. Becker. Digital atlas of Oklahoma
   version.

 Reviews_Applied_to_Data:

This electronic report was subjected to the same review standard
that applies to all U.S. Geological Survey reports. Reviewers were
asked to check the topological consistency, tolerances, attribute
frequencies and statistics, projection, and geographic extent. The
reviewers checked the metadata and a_readme.1st files for
   completeness and accuracy.

  Overview_Description:
    Entity_and_Attribute_Overview:

Each polygon has six attributes. The first attribute, QDNAME,
contains the quadrangle name. The second attribute STATE1, contains
an abbreviation for the state that contains all or the largest part
of the quadrangle. The third attribute STATE2 and the fourth
attribute STATE3, if applicable, contain an abbreviation for the
state containing the second and third largest part of the
quadrangle. The state abbreviations are: Arkansas, AR; Colorado,
CO; Kansas, KS; Missouri, MO; New Mexico, NM; Oklahoma, OK; and
Texas, TX. The fifth attribute CENTLAT, indicates the latitudinal
line at the quadrangle center. The sixth attribute CENTLONG,
indicates the longitudinal line at the quadrangle center.

The attributes in the DLG version are stored in the associated file
QUAD100.DBF. This file is in a dBASE format and can be appended to
the polygon attributes using software compatible with the dBASE
format. The item QUAD100_ is stored in the first major code
(MAJOR1) and the item QUAD100_ID is stored in the first minor code
(MINOR1). Either item may be used as the link item when joining
   QUAD100.DBF with the polygon attributes.
