Report Title: Sources of water supply for the military establishments at Fort Sill, Okla.

Abstract

The following report is based on field observations in the region about Fort Sill, Okla. June 5 to June 11, 1918.

The water supply for the Government establishments on the Fort Sill Military Reservation and for the city of Lawton is taken from an impounding reservoir known as Lake Lawtonka, which has a storage capacity of 4,000,000,000 gallons, and impounds the water from a water shed of about 100 square miles of mountain slope.

An auxilliary supply capable of meeting the needs of the city of Lawton, at least for a period of several months has been pumped from shallow wells situated at Lawton, during emergencies heretofore.

An auxilliary supply amounting to some 40,000 gallons per day has been pumped from wells situated near Medicine Bluff Creek just north of the Old Post, for use at the Post.
